There are those that are huge and others that are minimal, while others just sit in between.
Today on VasititTBT we take a walk back in time to remember 5 epic Nigerian Wins.
These wins placed Nigeria in the limelight across Africa and the rest of the World.
Here are top 5 Epic Nigerian Wins scored internationally
2001 Miss World Beauty Pageant
The 2001 Miss World Beauty Pageant was the 51st Edition which took place on the 16th of November 2001 at Sun city, South Africa.
The contest kicked off with 93 countries from all over the world and only one winner emerged.
Agbani Darego had earlier won the Miss Nigeria Pageant and top 10 on the Miss Universe List for that same year.
The victory made her the first to win the Miss World Title in Nigeria and Africa. It was one of the best Nigerian Epic Wins.
The FIFA U-17 Competition
The Competition which is hosted every 2 years by world football body, FIFA.
This competition is handled by the Nigerian U-17 squad, popularly known as The Golden Eaglets.
The squad got her first Recognition by bringing Nigeria to the front seat when they won the Gold medal In the 1985 China FIFA U-17 Tournament.
They have bagged the medal for five times in all : China 1985, Japan 1993, South Korea 2007, UAE 2013, Chile 2015.
2018 Technovation world pitch junior division in San Francisco, USA.
In August 2018, a group of Young Nigerian secondary school girls brought a hope to the shores of Nigeria.
The team of students stood in competition with other students from USA, Spain, Turkey, Uzbekistan and China and emerged winners.
The girls: Promise Nnalue, Jessica Osita, Nwabuaku Ossai, Adaeze Onuigbo and Vivian Okoye received recognition from Vice-President Osibanjo on his twitter account.
The BET Awards 2011
The BET Awards celebrates and recognizes black entertainment. It was in 2009 that the media enterprise received some lashes for not including more African Artiste.
In 2011, The BET Awards introduced a category that recognizes international acts from Africa.
The nominees were; 2Face Idibia (Nigeria) D’Banj (Nigeria) D-Black (Ghana) Fally Ipupa (DR Congo) Angelique Kidjo (Benin) Teargas (South Africa).
The Award was a tie between The two Nigerians, 2 baba and D’Banj. Making them the first set of Nigerians to receive recognition for that category in The BET Awards.
First Nigerian Open-Heart Surgery 1974
In 1974, Cardio-thoracic Surgeon and professor of surgery at the University of Nigeria, Prof. Fabian Anene Ositadimma Udekwu performed the premier heart surgery on African soil.
This brought huge attention on Nigeria and Africa.
