It was a sorrowful day for the families of Adigun Olawale, a UNILORIN final year student of Agriculture from the University of Ilorin when he allegedly committed suicide by swallowing a pesticide popularly known as “Sniper” after his research work was rejected by his supervisor.
According to reports, the research work was rejected because the UNILORIN final year student, Olawale was accused to have done a “copy and paste” job on the research work.
The deceased denied this accusation as this would mean he had to repeat the session and would be unable to graduate with his mates.
According to the neighbors, the 27-year old UNILORIN final year student had been depressed ever since the realization that he didn’t make the final graduation list.
The tragic incident was reported to have happened on Thursday night at Oke-Odo, a student-populated area in Ilorin, Kwara state, but the corpse was only discovered on Saturday after neighbours noticed a foul smell oozing out of his room. When the door was broken, his bloated body was found on the floor.
Olawale was also reported to have told a friend about his depression but two hours after their conversation, he uplaoded a picture of sniper on his page.
His friend tried to plead with the deceased on seeing the pesticide picture uploaded but he discovered later that it was too late.
