Back in school, you realize that you have to learn a couple of things that make you sweat puddles of stress, trying to grasp the intricacies of things you will never ever use in your lifetime! So you spend hours upon hours doing unorthodox things to triangles and molecular structures of different compounds (as in chemistry). But after school, a new reality hits you. You are back to your life and the only skills you have is in doing unorthodox things to textbook contents! Here are some very basic things you will need to learn during this trasition period of your life.
- How to use a copy machine. I’m not joking! You land your first internship, you are assigned to make copies of a document and you have no clue whatsoever how to use a copy machine! You still think this is ridiculous? They don’t teach this in school o. Wait, have you seen those things lately? It’s more than just print, copy and scan. You press the wrong button, you have papers flying out of holes you didn’t even know existed.
- How to sell yourself. A lot of what happens to you in real life is because you are at the right place at the right time and also because you are daring and determined. You may bump into the CEO of a company or land a job interview of your dreams and have exactly 45 seconds to prove yourself. You’ll land beautiful opportunities if you can sum up who you are and what you want in 140 characters or less or in 30 seconds.
- How to wash your delicates. As a fresh graduate, you better had known how to wash your blazer for work or handle your “Dry Clean Only” pants, for times when you can’t afford that kind of service.
Is this helpful? Will love to hear from you in the comments.
