Meet our student entrepreneur of the week:

My names are Ayodeji Salami Islamiat. I am a student of lagos state university; studying chemistry and I am a textile designer (I make tie-dye)

On what inspired her to start her business, she said:

I am a business orientated person; and I don’t like asking people for money and they tell me they don’t have, I like being dependent.

On the impacts her business has had on her:

Starting my own business while in school has really impacted in me positively because it gave me this ideal of not to be depending on anyone .

Balancing school and a business isn’t the easiest thing:

Balancing school and business is not really easy tho but I have to create a chance for both because I don’t have a choice.

She enjoys support from both parents:

My parents are so supportive, they helped in all aspects, especially my mom. She is always there for me

On building a customer base, she had this to say:

It was not easy building a customer base when I just started, but I had to, by always posting online, showing and also telling people about my products anywhere I go.

Her advice for aspiring student entrepreneurs is that:

They should stay focused and determined always.
