Movie Review: Pacific Rim Uprising

It’s still a new month and it’s just about getting real good.

Who saw the movie Pacific Rim back in 2013, directed by Guillermo del Toro? The movie starred Idris Elba, Charlie Day, Burn Gorman and Rinko Kikuchi. It was a movie set in the future when earth is at war with the Kaiju, colossal sea monsters which emerged from an interdimensional portal at the bottom of the  Pacific ocean. Gigantic humanoid mechas called Jaegers were created by the alliance of humans, each controlled by two pilots, whose minds are joined by a mental link. The story follows Raleigh Becket, a former Jaeger pilot called out of retirement and teamed with a rookie pilot Mako Mori as part of a last-ditch effort to defeat the Kaiju.

A sequel titled Pacific Rim Uprising , directed by Steven S. DeKnight and produced by Del Toro, with Kikuchi , Day and Gorman reprising their roles is anticipated. Universal Pictures is taking the film distribution scheduled to be released on March 23, 2018. The film will be released in 2D, Real D 3D, IMAX 3D and IMAX release.

10 years after the Battle of the Breach, the oceans became restless again. However, the Jaeger program has evolved into the next generation. Something has reopened the breach for the kaiju and a Jaeger has gone rogue. Jake Pentecost (played by John Boyega), son of Stacker Pentecost, rises up to stand against the evolved Kaiju and the rogue Jaeger to prevent humanity’s extinction and preserve his Father’s legacy.

March 23 is almost here! It’s worth looking forward to.
