BSU Students Protest Over Fee Increment

Based on Eyewitness report, the students of the Benue State University, Markurdi engage in a radical protestation on the recent increment of fees by the management of the university. The protesting students at the early hours of the day converged at the main entrance of the institution, sent the security personnel of the institution away, barricaded the institution gates to prevent any form of movements and took over the Makurdi-Gboko road.
One of the students of the institution stated: “how can the management of the university carry on as if they are not aware of the economic situation in the state and country, with the new policy the least fee payable in the school is N92,000 as against the former N56,000. Their action is the height of insensitivity.” He said.
The Acting Registrar of the institution, Mrs. Catherine Bur added that the protestation came from those she described as social miscreants and not the students of the school. Her remarks show that she places blame on those who engaged in the protestation.
