ASUU Rejects Exorbitrant Increment Of School Fees

Report have it that the academic staff union of universities has blatantly rejected the increment of school fees in the public universities by the Federal Government.ASUU felt that it was a lame plan by the FG to propose an increment of N500, 000 for Undergraduates in science and N350,000 for Undergraduates in Art and humanities. They further rejected Dr. Wale Babalakin’s idea of education bank for Undergraduates because it is trite that most students will not have access to loan and for those who will access the loan,  their parents will have to bear the brunt amidst the very high rate of unemployment. The essence of education plan is to to have a loan of N1 million for undergraduates in every session to pay the tuition fee and sustain themselves.

Prof.Abubakar who is the Bauchi Zonal coordinator of the union added that the education bank proposal is not by any way realistic since the outcome will be to the detriment of the Undergraduates who would later be graduates. They would have to wallow in eternal debt and frustration.
