ASUU Strike 2018
The academic staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has commenced an indefinite strike action over the non-implementation of the Memorandum of Action (MOA) signed with the Federal Government several years ago.
The strike brings a halt to every form of academic activity on Nigerian Universities that are obliged to the union.
In 2013, the union embarked on a strike action that lasted for six months over the same issue and there is no idea as to how long this one would last.
The strike which took effect on Sunday the 4th of November was due to the failure of the federal government implementation of the signed memorandum of agreement. An agreement signed in 2017.

The strike action which covers both the federal and state owned universities who are obliged to the union. As ASUU president Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi has lamented that all actions to get the government to honour the agreements has fallen to deaf ears.
